BGI on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Tanzania to build a Huo-Yan Laboratory in Dar es Salaam.
Designed to test 1,000 samples per day, the lab will provide COVID-19 nucleic acid tests for airport passengers flying from Tanzania to China. BGI will also offer local training and technical support.
“China has always been Tanzania’s strategic partner. Not only will this project equip Tanzania with the essential ability for coronavirus detection, but it will also give Tanzania an opportunity to learn advanced technology,” said Abel Makubi, Permanent Secretary of the Tanzania Ministry of Health.
