The Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) system or complex is a gene complex encoding the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) proteins in humans. These cell-surface proteins are responsible for the regulation of the immune system in humans. HLAs have been showed to play an important role in disease defense, to protect against cancers and are the major cause of organ transplant rejections. HLA can also present biomarkers of susceptibility to certain disease or adverse drug reactions.
The HLA gene complex resides on a 3Mbp stretch of chromosome 6p21, which is highly polymorphic and poses significant challenges in investigating the role of HLA genetic variations in diseases.
BGI has developed a dedicated sequencing-based solution to deliver precise and high-resolution HLA-typing result to meet your research needs. This solution is cleared by cFDA in China for clinical application, but is intended for research use only elsewhere.
We care for your samples from the start through to the result reporting. Highly experienced laboratory professionals follow strict quality procedures to ensure the integrity of your results.
We have established HLA typing workflows for both NGS and Sanger sequencing platforms:
