Position: Lab Technician – San Jose, California

Position Summary:

BGI Americas is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join its BGIA Support team.  This position provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to BGIA’s goal of improving human health by providing genomic information to understand, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases and conditions.  As a member of the BGIA Support team, the position will support next generation processes for genome sequencing.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing standard work procedures on a wide range of molecular biology techniques related to Next Generation Sequencing.

 

Location: San Jose, CA.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Execute on and assist in the development of process instructions that ensure accuracy, throughput, and quality.
  2. Operate and monitor laboratory automation and instrumentation.  Communicate issues and failures as necessary to the appropriate parties.
  3. Apply knowledge and experience in specialized areas, with an understanding of the underlying biochemistry.  Use that knowledge and understanding to address problems and situations ordinarily encountered in laboratory manufacturing processes.
  4. Functional understanding of Operational Excellence principles, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen, and has the ability to apply them to the workplace.
  5. General lab duties, such as restocking supplies and maintaining inventory.
  6. Individual will be required to identify, communicate and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  7. Will be responsible for working within the team to communicate goals, collaborate on initiatives and deliver on key performance indicators.
  8. Will utilize various manufacturing systems and applications for performing work duties, including LIMS and other proprietary software.
  9. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology or related field with 1-2 years of industry experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  2. Previous Next Gen Sequencing experience highly desirable.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Molecular biology experience acquired from working with technologies such as PCR, sequencing, microarrays, and liquid handling automation is preferred.
  2. Familiarity with processes used in molecular biology production and R&D environments.
  3. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with great attention to detail and record keeping.
  4. Proficiency in the use of basic molecular biology laboratory techniques, equipment and materials required, as well as experience with Good Laboratory Practices and aseptic techniques.
  5. Bloodborne pathogen training and experience with current Hep B vaccination status.
  6. Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced lab environment.   Should be familiar with systems and processes used in such settings, such as the use of SOP’s and LIMS.
  7. Demonstrated strength in working within a team, as well as ability to work effectively independently.  Should be well organized, self-motivated and possess excellent time management skills.
  8. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  9. Ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
  10. Attention to detail, with good problem solving and analytical thinking skills required.
  11. Quality minded, customer focused and driven by desire for continuous improvement.
  12. Demonstrated capability to interact effectively with cross functional partners, notably Development, Research, Supply Chain, and other dependent manufacturing teams.
  13. Strong technical ability and demonstrated proficiency in performing and troubleshooting molecular biology systems.
  14. Experience with Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing desired.
  15. Strong documentation skills and experience using standard data analysis tools are required.
  16. Experience in quality systems and resource planning is desirable.
  17. Competency in Microsoft Office applications and general computing skills required.

Marketing Communications Manager

(Boston, MA)

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

This individual will be responsible for coordinating, tracking of and reporting on marketing programs and events to support overall BGIA sales revenue goals.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  1. Manage and collaborate with key stakeholders to support campaign development and programs that are aligned with company and marketing goals.
  2. Manage tactical elements of the marketing program, which include webinars, videos, events, content, and collateral.
  3. Implement and manage professional tradeshow, customer workshop and sales training events.
  4. Successfully execute day‐to‐day operation of marketing
  5. Manage others through influence to manage projects.
  6. Document the storyboard in collaboration with others and writes, edits, proofs and professionally formats content to be consistent with BGI branding and quality.
  7. Responsible for sourcing, selecting, and managing lists and data used to support sales and marketing
  8. Test and monitor programs to optimize performance based on industry best
  9. Provide monthly reporting to management that includes recommendations to enhance future campaign
  10. Recommend, document and implement processes to enhance marketing
  11. Provide support to Product Managers to develop marketing content and collateral for related products and sources.

 

Skills and Abilities:

 

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  2. Strong marketing and business acumen.
  3. Ability to organize and multitask on several projects to meet deadlines.
  4. Ability to work accurately and work to agreed timeline and budget.

Qualifications:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required. Or equivalent experience supporting marketing programs in the life science space.
  2. Minimum 3 years hands-on B2B experience in marketing programs execution and measurement or events management.
  3. Ability to work with WYSIWYG editors using HTML such as WordPress/Marketing Automation.
  4. Hands-on, demonstrable experience and proficiency with marketing automation platforms (Marketo, Act-On, HubSpot or similar) and CRM systems is required. Salesforce.com experience is a plus.
  5. Experience in independently managing tradeshows and events.
  6. Some travel is required.

Regional Sales Manager

(NYC area based)

 

Responsibilities:

The Regional Sales Manager will directly manage BGI’s genomics service business with government, academic and industrial accounts in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US. The candidate will be responsible for revenue generation and business growth in the designated geographical region.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Assume overall accountability for establishing and implementing an effective sales plan, meeting regional sales goals with budgeted resources and developing key account sales strategies.
  2. Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. Keep informed on technological developments, market competition, policies and regulation, etc., in the genomics space. Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales patterns and strategies for different market sectors.
  3. Perform territory business analysis and report results to the Director of Sales on a regular basis. Evaluate budget execution, product performance, operation efficiency within territory and report results/suggestions to leadership team.
  4. Identify key business opportunities in research, government and biotech space. Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders. Utilize customer resources to expand BGI’s influence and to secure key business opportunities.
  5. Effectively coordinate with Account Manager, Project Manager and the Production Team to ensure smooth execution of projects and proper communication of project status to clients. Work with Product Managers through collaborative projects with key clients to drive product development.
  6. Attend national and regional conferences, trade shows and corporate meetings as scheduled.
  7. Understand BGI’s value proposition in broader scope and being able to communicate BGI‘s vision beyond sequencing services.

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Minimum BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or equivalent science degree.

 

 

  1. Minimum 3 years of account management experience in Biotech industry.
  2. Proficiency in selling next generation sequencing and other genomic services such as microarray, genotyping, diagnostics, etc.
  3. Strong understanding of the market and customer needs within the Next Generation

Sequencing industry.

  1. Willingness to travel at least 50% of time.
  2. Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  3. Require American citizenship or with working permit in US.
