Mass-Spec Lab Manager

(San Jose, CA based)

 

Responsibilities:

The Mass Spectrometry Center in San Jose, BGI Americas, is accepting applications for a full-time manager to run the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory. This is a full-time and fully benefited position with competitive salary. The Laboratory Manager will lead a team of individuals who embrace and share in the same vision, core values and integrity of the science. This is a hands-on position that oversees all aspects of the laboratory, including personnel and day-to-day operations.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage the laboratory operation, provide MS services to meet the needs of customers.
  2. Supervision of laboratory personnel
  3. Oversight of analytical method development and validation
  4. Oversight of maintaining and repairing instruments

Mass-Spec Product Manager

(San Jose, CA based)

 

Responsibilities:

The Mass-Spec Product Manager (MSPM) is responsible for developing product portfolio and managing product life cycle for Mass-Spec services out of BGI’s laboratory in San Jose, California. The MSPM is responsible for building a sustainable MS services business, managing product development and commercialization in conjunction with the Mass-Spec technical team, commercial and leadership teams in US and China.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Conduct market research of global and US mass-specs service market, perform market assessment and competitive analysis of BGI’s mass-specs business in the US, work with Mass-Spec US and HQ technical team, BGI US commercial leadership team, to develop business plan and product roadmap for Mass-Spec business growth in the US;
  2. Work alongside marketing team to define sales tool requirements, work with laboratory team to create and update product content, develop messaging for BGI Mass-Spec service in US market. Develop and review communication materials including technical data sheets, slide presentations, technotes to customers;
  3. Gather inputs both internally and externally, to define Mass-Spec product concepts, develop detailed product requirements, feature definitions, and implementation plans;
  4. Work closely with Mass-Spec US technical team to establish laboratory infrastructure in BGI San Jose site, assist Mass-Spec laboratory to establish workflows, SOPs and quality systems;
  5. Coordinate product launch and represent BGI Mass-Spec service products through marketing channels;
  6. Work with Business Development, Sales and laboratory team to develop and maintain KOL network. Coordinate laboratory team and key collaborators for product co-development and validation. Manage Voice of Customer programs to support product launch and life cycle management;
  7. Attend major industry meetings and present key technology development and scientific discovery on behalf of BGI Mass-Spec departments. Maintain and develop industry network and promote BGI brand awareness in Mass-Spec area;
  8. Monitor product line financial performance and propose initiatives to optimize business performance.
  9. Report (monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.) and document Mass-Spec product management work to management.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or Master/Ph. D’s degree in Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry preferred;
  2. 5-10 years of industry experience in pharmaceutical sales leadership, sales ops, marketing and\or sales training demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility;
  3. Mass Spectrometry service business management\biopharma marketing experience, preferably in the antibody/protein therapeutics area.
  4. Strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills
  5. Demonstrated ability to set up business strategy of technique service.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop product launch plans and lead the internal launch readiness activities for new products
  7. Willingness to travel as required for position (approx. 20-30% of time)

Senior Marketing Communications Specialist

Responsibilities:

This individual will be responsible for coordinating, tracking and reporting on marketing programs to support overall BGIA sales revenue goals.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage and collaborate with key stakeholders to support campaign development and programs that are aligned with company and marketing goals

Manager or Director of Business Development – Europe

 

The Manager or Director of Business Development will be responsible for leading BGI’s business development primarily with pharmaceutical accounts in Europe. Major responsibilities include: identifying key business opportunities, maintaining strategic business relationship leading to sustainable revenue growth, developing and executing an effective business plan to better position BGI’s value in the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement BGI’s global business plan in the biopharma sector to achieve annual sales/revenue target assigned for the Europe territory;
  2. Create and follow through new business opportunities with existing and prospective Pharma/CRO clients;
  3. Maintain and develop solid relationships and collaboration with key biopharma accounts and key opinion leaders;
  4. Understand current trend of drug discovery and development in the pharma industry. Develop solid understanding of NGS/genomics applications in drug discovery & development across the industry as well as within key pharma accounts.
  5. Maintain strong knowledge of BGI’s genomics solutions and worldwide resources esp. their applications relevant to biopharma needs. Customize and propose tailored solutions to address clients’ needs.
  6. Provide industry insights and marketing trends to facilitate product development. Assist management in developing/improving BGI’s strategy in the pharma/CRO space.

 

Job Requirements:

  1. 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry, R&D and/or business experience in biomarker discovery, molecular diagnostics, genomics, bioinformatics strongly preferred.
  2. Minimum MS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or equivalent science degree. Ph.D. preferred.
  3. Commercial experience in next generation sequencing and genomics service/products required. Sales and business development experience with pharmaceutical accounts strongly preferred.
  4. Excellent communications, analytical and organizational skills. Strong team work spirit. Leadership and management experience strongly preferred.
  5. Willingness to travel.

Regional Sales Manager

(Latin America)

 

Responsibilities:

The Regional Sales Manager will directly manage BGI’s genomics service business with government, academic and industrial accounts in the Latin American region (including Central and South America). The candidate will be responsible for revenue generation and business growth in this designated geographical region.

  1. Assume overall accountability for establishing and implementing an effective sales plan, meet regional sales goals with budgeted resources and develop key account sales strategies.
  2. Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. Director of BioPharma Product Management

(Boston, MA or San Francisco Bay Area)

 

Responsibilities:

The Director of BioPharma Product Management is responsible for managing BGI’s product portfolio for BioPharma services. This individual will be responsible for leading the BioPharma product management team based in both US and China. Responsibilities include:
1. Be in charge of BGI’s BioPharma product portfolio and manage their product life cycle
2. Conduct market research, market assessment, competitive evaluations, analyze current product performance, and assess overall competitiveness of product portfolio
3. Analyze and recommend new product and service offerings or improvements to current products
4. Gather input, both internally and externally, to define product concepts, develop detailed requirement and implement plans
5. Work alongside Marketing team to develop or improve products, define sales tool requirements and generate product documentation, launch/represent products through key marketing channels
6. Coordinate with production team, R&D, or other BGI headquarter product teams to access/generate data or results in support of product development
7. Present products to key customers/collaborators, monitor Product Co-development products

 

Qualifications:

1. Minimum MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or equivalent science degree.
2. Minimum 5 years of product development, product marketing experience in BioPharma or diagnostic field
3. Knowledge of drug development, biomarkers and companion diagnostics

Director/Senior Manager, Project Management – BioPharma

(Shenzhen, China)

 

Responsibilities:

The Director/Senior Manager, Project Management – BioPharma is responsible for leading a global project management team that supports business transaction and project execution. The project management team serves as an essential interface between clients, business development and production departments that ensures smooth project delivery and communication. The position is responsible for establishing and improving the infrastructure for global biopharma project management, ensures effectiveness of individual team members in their project management role, that is essential for customer satisfactory and business sustainability.

1. Ensure project managers are appropriately assigned to support the business development team that manages global and local biopharma accounts. Prepare quotations, draft work orders, provide necessary technical support to assist deal closure and project initiation.

2. Comply with corporate business policies and legal requirements, ensure readiness of account and project documentation before project initiation.

3. Ensure the projects are appropriately assigned and communicated to production department through project coordinators, according to product line requirements and project priorities. Utilize LIMS system to document and manage projects from initiation to completion.

4. Provide regular updates to clients on behalf of the BD team throughout project execution process. Provide TAT estimates, communicate sample and data QC results, data analysis requirements. Proactively coordinates troubleshooting, etc.

5. Manage invoicing, billing and relevant business practices in conjunction with accounting to ensure revenue recognition.

6. Setup and improve global project management infrastructure and workflow esp. for clinical trial projects.

7. Work with laboratory and QA teams to accommodate lab audits. Communicate with client on audit requirements. Work with QA to implement corrective actions if needed.

8. Assist business development team with management and development of client relationship. Improve customer satisfaction that lead to long term business sustainability.

9. Coordinate with other biopharma departments to differentiate BGI brand in biopharma business.

 

Qualifications:

1. Minimum MS degree in related field, PMP certification preferred

2. Minimum of 5 years experience in project management or other related experience in the CRO market

3. Solid knowledge and experience in the clinical NGS or molecular diagnostics market segment

4. Ability to communicate effectively over the phone, online, and in person working with both clients and colleague

5. Previous experience successfully managing multiple/integration projects is a plus

6. Management experience preferred
