Regional Sales Manager

(Houston, TX based)

 

Responsibilities:

The Regional Sales Manager will directly manage BGI’s genomics service business in industrial, academic and government accounts in the Southern region of the US. The candidate will be responsible for revenue generation and business growth in the designated geographical region.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Assume overall accountability for establishing and implementing an effective sales plan, meeting regional sales goals with budgeted resources and developing key account sales strategies.
  2. Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. Keep informed on technological developments, market competition, policies and regulation, etc., in the genomics space. Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales patterns and strategies for different market sectors.
  3. Perform territory business analysis and report results to the Director of Sales on a regular basis. Evaluate budget execution, product performance, operation efficiency within territory and report results/suggestions to leadership team.
  4. Identify key business opportunities in research, government and biotech space. Develop and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders. Utilize customer resources to expand BGI’s influence and to secure key business opportunities.
  5. Effectively coordinate with Account Manager, Project Manager and the Production Team to ensure smooth execution of projects and proper communication of project status to clients. Work with Product Managers through collaborative projects with key clients to drive product development.
  6. Attend national and regional conferences, trade shows and corporate meetings as scheduled.
  7. Understand BGI’s value proposition in broader scope and being able to communicate BGI‘s vision beyond sequencing services.

 

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Minimum BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or equivalent science degree.
  2. Minimum 2 years of account management experience in the Biotech industry.
  3. Knowledge and experience about clinical genomics preferred.
  4. Proficiency in selling next generation sequencing and other genomic services such as microarray, genotyping, diagnostics, etc.
  5. Strong understanding of the market and customer needs within the Next Generation Sequencing industry.
  6. Willingness to travel at least 50% of time.
  7. Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  8. Requires American citizenship or valid US work permit.

Sales Intern, Midwest Territory

(Boston, MA based)

 

Job Description:

 

Are you pursuing a degree in the sciences and interested in applying that degree to a sales career? Join the BGI team!

BGI is a leader in the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and genomics industry.  As an intern with our sales team you will support our Regional Sales Managers (RSM) from the company headquarters in Cambridge, MA.  You will use your passion for science to support the sales organization and marketing campaigns.  You will gain and apply knowledge about NGS industry, BGI’s infrastructure and product development; real world experience in a company that is a leader in the genomics market it serves.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Prospecting/lead generation
  2. Participate in team and corporate meetings
  3. Quickly and professionally respond to customer inquiries by phone, or email
  4. Manage customer communications in an effectively and timely manner
  5. Initial outreach to leads via email and phone calls
  6. Generate proposals and service agreements for customers
  7. Support RSMs as needed to meet territory goals
  8. Understand BGI’s value proposition and be able to communicate BGI‘s vision beyond sequencing services

Job Requirements:

  1. Attending a College/University or BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or equivalent science degree.

Product Manager, Genomic Services

(San Jose, CA based)

 

Responsibilities:

The Genomic Services Product Manager is responsible for managing the product life cycle for NGS service products and for the support of sales growth initiatives in the Americas.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Work alongside marketing and sales teams to define sales tool requirements, work with laboratory team to create and update product documentation content, develop messaging for BGI NGS services in North, Central and South-American markets. Develop and review high-quality communication material including technical data sheets, slide presentations, technical notes and white papers.
  2. Develop and implement product launch plans and represent BGI NGS service products through appropriate marketing channels.
  3. Develop sales education material with clear value proposition, product performance and competitive analysis.
  4. Work with Business Development, Sales, MarCom and China-based product team to develop and maintain KOL network.
  5. Attend major industry meetings and facilitate key technology development and scientific discovery to customer base through workshops or webinar events.
  6. Monitor Market and competitive trends and recommend actions when necessary.
  7. Monitor product line financial performance and propose initiatives to optimize business performance.

 

Job Requirements

  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related scientific discipline and 4 years of experience in the field of Next Generation Sequencing and its applications in academic research and/or pharmaceutical drug discovery.
  2. 4 years of industry experience in marketing, support and/or sales roles.
  3. Experience in the Genomic Services business is a plus.
  4. Strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills.
  5. Excellent communication (writing and presentation) skills.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop product launch plans and lead the internal launch readiness activities for new products.
  7. Experience with digital marketing and web content management platforms a plus.
  8. Willingness to travel as required for position (approx. 25% of time).

Position: Laboratory Director, Clinical NGS Lab

 

Reports to: General Manager of BGI Americas Corp, and Director of BGI Genomics Overseas Production Department

 

Position Summary:

The laboratory director will work for a multi-national genomics service company, which is setting up a clinical sequencing production center based in Montreal, Canada. He/she will be responsible for the overall lab operation, with a focus on lab team management and developing/administration of all testing processes.

 

Location: Montreal, Canada.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Direct supervision of qualified and trained personnel to perform sequencing test procedures in compliance with current standard operating procedures (SOP) and CLIA/CAP/ICL standards.
  2. Optimize test procedures by reviewing laboratory metrics to identify initiatives as well as establishing additional metrics such as cost savings that are associated with process improvement.
  3. Work with commercial teams to define, develop and optimize lab product portfolio for short to long term business growth; develop new assays or validate existing BGI assays to fulfill the above mission;
  4. Lead the lab team to prepare for the application of CLIA/CAP/ICL accreditations and annual auditing. Responsible for maintaining and improving quality systems according to CLIA/CAP/ICL regulations.
  5. Follow the latest clinical NGS testing policies and technology trends and implement new technologies to the laboratory as needed.
  6. Monthly and Quarterly report to Headquarters on laboratory’s. Timely and professional deal with unexpected emergencies and report to headquarters in time.
  7. Communicate with FAS, PM and sales teams; working together to ensure the lab is running efficiently financially in order to maximize profitability.
  8. Manage the laboratory’s team, including talent development and monitoring laboratory testing capabilities.
  9. Overall coordination and management of BGI’s delivery laboratories in the Americas, including San Jose and Montreal laboratories. Strengthening the laboratory teams through a mixture of inspiring leadership, practical skills training and mentoring.
  10. Work with local and headquarter management team to define laboratory strategy, roadmap and requirements for genomic sequencing and testing business;

 

Qualifications:

  • MD, Ph.D., or MD/PhD degree required
  • 2 years of experience in managing a NGS related laboratory
  • Certification in ABMGG or ABP in Molecular Genetics/Pathology is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrate experience in genomic assay development in research or diagnostic fields is preferred but not required
  • Proven knowledge of genomics and NGS technologies, applications and market trends
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and proven interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate ability to inspire effective collaboration and motivate staff
