Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager/Director for Mass Spec Services will lead business development efforts on behalf of BGI Americas Mass Spec business in the US. The candidate will be responsible for developing key business relationships with biopharma, contract research organization (CRO), diagnostic, and key academic accounts in the United States.

Job Location:
The location is flexible. California Bay Area preferred.

Major Responsibilities:
• Develop new customer accounts for BGI Americas San Jose Mass Spec center. Nurture new customer accounts and establish a mature business relationship for BGI mass spec service business.
• Collaborate with existing BGI Americas commercial team to introduce mass spec analysis services to existing genomics customer base. Enhance customer experience and loyalty with multi-omics analysis solutions.
• Develop strategic business relationships with biopharma, CRO, and diagnostic accounts. Negotiate licensing, co-marketing, and other collaboration agreements to expand partnership relationships related to BGI’s mass spec and multi-omics platforms.
• Contribute strategic insights to the growth of BGI Americas’ mass spec and multi-omics business. Perform market competitive analysis to identify business growth opportunities, and to develop essential investments and external partnership strategies.
• Work with product management and laboratory team to improve BGI’s mass spec product solutions based on market trends as well as opinions from key customers/collaborators in different industry sectors.
• Develop and manage relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in Mass Spec and multi-omics space. Work with Mass Spec center to develop and execute key proof-of-concept and pilot studies to contribute to new technology demonstration and product promotion to the market.
• Attend and coordinate national and regional conferences, trade shows, online events, and corporate meetings as scheduled.
• Understand BGI’s value proposition in a broader scope and being able to communicate BGI’s vision beyond genomics and mass spec services.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum BS in biology, chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or equivalent science degree.
• Minimum 3 years of account management and customer-facing experience in the biotech industry.
• Experience in mass spec products or services required. Experience with biopharma or CROs is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in selling genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and/or other omics services strongly preferred.
• Business development experience and proven track record in the related business areas strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the mass spec analysis market preferred.

• Willingness to travel 25% – 50% of the time.
• Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.

Position Summary:
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) under BGI Americas Corporation will directly manage BGI’s genomics & proteomics service business with academic and industry accounts in the designated sales territory of the United States. The candidate will be responsible for growing territory revenue, managing and developing customer relationships in the sales territory.

Job Location:

Major Responsibilities:
• Manage existing and develop new accounts for BGI’s genomics service business in a designated territory. Effectively represent BGI’s genomic sequencing and proteomics service portfolios to research customers in academic, industry, and government accounts. Be directly responsible for achieving designated territory revenue targets.
• Implement a consultative selling approach to understand customer’s project needs. Work with the technical support team and other internal resources to perform project evaluation, develop and communicate project proposals with customers, negotiate and close sales contracts. Effectively communicate BGI’s technology and product strength to customers. Develop tailored and competitive project solutions that meet customer’s project goals and expectations.
• Assume overall accountability for establishing and implementing an effective sales plan, meeting regional sales goals with budgeted resources, and developing key account sales strategies. Perform territory business analysis and report results to the Director of Sales on a regular basis.
• Champion mass-spec analysis services as new product solutions to BGI’s existing and growing customer base. Proactively develop and manage key customers or collaborators to further solidify BGI’s multi-omics analysis business in the US.
• Serve as BGI’s primary interface to customers and collaborators in the territory. Keep customers updated on BGI’s product solution, technology development, research advancements, and other corporate developments. Maintain and nurture valuable business relationships. Managing relationships with key opinion leaders to effectively influence existing and new customers with emerging technology and products.
• Effectively coordinate with Project Managers to ensure smooth execution of projects and proper communication of project status to clients. Work with the technical support team to perform troubleshooting and address customer’s inquiries to project deliverables.
• Attend and coordinate national and regional conferences, trade shows, online events, and corporate meetings as scheduled.
• Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. The Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) will work within BGI Americas’ Sales Department to manage and develop BGI’s genomics & proteomics service business with designated academic, industry, and government accounts in the United States. • Perform lead qualification, project consultation, quotation, and contract execution with customer accounts. Perform lead follow-up, maintain and improve a healthy business pipeline. Lead troubleshooting whenever necessary to maintain customer satisfaction.
• Work with sales leadership to develop and implement sales strategies/tactics for territory business. Meet quarterly and annual sales targets with budgeted resources.
• Implement consultative selling approach to understand customer’s research goals and project demand. Work with technical support and other supporting teams to perform project evaluation, proposal negotiation to deliver tailored and competitive project solutions that meet customer expectations.
• Perform sales projection, territory business analysis to understand and refine growth strategies for designated accounts or territory.
• Plan and perform regular customer visits. Develop new contacts and business opportunities. Enhance ties with key business relationships. Attend conferences, tradeshows and company-sponsored events whenever necessary.
• Collect and report market intelligence information on account, territory, and product dimensions.
• Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. Keep informed on technological developments, market competition, policies, and regulation, etc., in the genomics space.

Job Requirements:
• Minimum BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or equivalent science degree.
• 0-2 years of demonstrated, successful sales and account management experience preferably to life
science research and industrial customers are preferred.
• Proficiency in selling genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and/or other omics services or products is
preferred.

Inside Sales Associate

(Remote)

Responsibilities:

The Inside Sales Associate is part of the Inside Sales team under BGI Americas Genomics Services business. He/She will support the Regional Sales Managers to manage BGI’s genomics service business with industry, academic and government accounts nationally. Responsible for lead generation,  qualification, project transactions and account management, resulting in revenue generation and business growth.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and emails.
  2. Qualify and nurture lead to project closure and/or route qualified opportunities to the appropriate Regional Sales Manager for further development and closure.
  3. Directly manage designated accounts from lead qualification to project closure.
  4. Lead generation and mining from market research and intelligence.
  5. Support regional sales managers to follow up business opportunities timely to increase conversion rate.
  6. Understand and maintain current knowledge of the company’s products and services. Keep informed on technology development, market competition, policies and regulation, etc., in the genomics space. Utilize resources and perform research to determine sales patterns and strategies for different market sectors.
  7. Perform territory business analysis and report results to Regional Sales Managers and management on a regular basis. Evaluate lead to opportunity ratio, aging opportunity report and lost business report and review with Regional Sales Manager.
  8. Attend national, regional conferences, trade shows, online events, corporate meetings as scheduled.
  9. Understand BGI value in broader scope and being able to communicate BGI vision beyond sequencing services.

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Minimum BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics or equivalent science degree.
  2. Basic understanding in selling next generation sequencing and other genomics services such as microarray, genotyping, diagnostics, etc. > 1 year of relevant sales and/or technical support experience preferred.
  3. Basic understanding of the market and customer needs within the Next Generation Sequencing industry.
  4. Excellent communications, analytical and organizational skills.
  5. Require American citizenship or with working permit in US.

Responsibilities:

BGI Americas Corporation is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join its laboratory team under its Genomics Services business. This position provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge genomics technologies and contribute to BGI Americas’ goal of advancing genomics research and improving human health. As a member of the BGIA laboratory team, the position will execute next-generation sequencing projects, maintain and develop laboratory service menu, and improve laboratory operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing standard work procedures on a wide range of molecular biology techniques related to Next Generation Sequencing.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs NGS experiments according to strict methodologies, procedures, and/or protocols and makes judgment-based decisions as necessary.
  2. Ensure defined quality criteria for automated NGS workflows are met.
  3. Evaluate new technology, execute technology transfer, continue to enhance the service menu of the laboratory
  4. Implements all safety and quality assurance policies and procedures when completing work.
  5. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment to carry out laboratory tests.
  6. Implement a lab-quality management plan that includes sample management, logistics, inventory
  7. Independently analyzes, interprets, records, and reviews testing results.
  8. Implements all safety and quality assurance policies and procedures when completing work.
  9. Tests out new NGS reagents to optimize workflow, SOPs, and available lab services.
  10. Functional understanding of Operational Excellence principles, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen, and can apply them to the workplace.

Generates presentations about laboratory work for laboratory staff; compiles information for creating required documents and records; keeps current with technical developments especially those which can save time, lower cost, and improve reliability; devises new applications of NGS for laboratory in diagnostic or another field.
  13. Will utilize various manufacturing systems and applications for performing work duties, including LIMS and other proprietary software.
  14. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  1. BS in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry). Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Familiar with high-throughput production environment; experience with liquid handling automation preferred.
  3. Expertise in molecular biology techniques including PCR, genotyping, or sequencing; familiarity with molecular biology systems, processes, and high-end analytical instrumentation.
  4. Detail-oriented, excellent record-keeping abilities, analytical and organizational skills; Work well in a team setting.
  5. Experience with a repertoire of techniques in molecular biology, PCR, and RT-PCR is a plus.
  6. Experience in Industry, preferably having developed and transferred products to a manufacturing setting.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  8. Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  9. Mandarin-speaking skills preferred.
